In time for their summer tour, Britpop legends have announced the details of their support acts for their huge show at London’s iconic Wembley Stadium, bringing out some of the finest bands that England has to offer.
Blossoms, Sleaford Mods, and The G-O-D are the acts that will support the beloved band from Manchester, after releasing new music respectively, with Blossoms in particularly enjoying a breakthrough year in 2016. Blossoms confirmed their main support slot in the tweet below.
Interestingly, Blossoms and Sleaford Mods engaged in an internet-based war of words on Twitter last year, with the Mods taking against Blossoms’ musical style, with Blossoms clapping back about Sleaford Mods’ age.
Despite this, the two acts appear to have put their differences aside in the name of supporting the Stone Roses, with the gig set to take place on June 17, having played in Belfast a few days earlier. From Wembley, the Roses will head North to Leeds and Glasgow, for a few more stadium dates, the full list of which can be seen below.
Fans await the dates with feverish anticipation, glad that the Stone Roses will be venturing nationwide after last year, where the band played just four nights, at their native Manchester’s Etihad stadium. The announcement of this UK tour earlier in the year was also greeted with speculation, as well as celebration, with many people guessing that the band would hit up at least one festival during the summer. Fans particularly gravitated towards the idea of the Roses playing at Glastonbury, with festival runner Emily Eavis consistently having to deny the rumours to the media.
