Benjamin Francis Leftwich today released his new single, ‘The Mess We Make’. This is the second record we’ve heard from his forthcoming third album “Gratitude”, due for release in March. The album will be the first material heard from Leftwich since 2016, and he has been discussing the new project and his last three years.

In an interview with the NME discussed how the record discusses his own internal perspectives saying “It’s about checking myself, and saying like, ‘Look at all the chaos I’m capable of causing when left to my own devices,’” he explained. “When I [can] sit and look back, check myself and then move forward with more understanding and compassion for myself, before I can share that with anyone else.”
Today’s new release is part of a bigger project, Benjamin Francis Leftwich’s third album, to be called Gratitude. The album is set to be released on the 15th of March, and will be his third record on Dirty Hit, home of the 1975 and Wolf Alice. Leftwich also announced a UK and European tour with singer songwriter Rosie Carney.

Born in York in 1989 Leftwich found success with the release of “Last Smoke Before The Snowstorm” in 2011, which reached number 35 in the UK album chart. He followed this with 2016’s “After The Rain”. Over the three years since the release of his last album the singer has been battling addiction issues but following a stint in rehab is proud to declare himself “one year sober”. Discussing this period of time Leftwich said he hopes his new album can help people going through the same situation “I hope it will help people, for sure. I think honesty is the key to all of this: honestly, I fuck up sometimes, and we all do. But can we look at ourselves and check ourselves, and grow? That’s my truth, but I can’t comment on how other people will take it. I think it’s a big question, but I hope people will find a beauty and a peace in [the new album]”.
