A year after the appalling Paris attacks, it has been announced Pete Doherty will reopen the Bataclan Theatre.
Still in our memories, we remember the tragic events of November 13 2015 when terrorists opened fire during a performance by Eagles of Death Metal killing 89 people.
Renovations continue and an official opening date will follow nearer the time. Pete Doherty will perform 16/11 and other acts will continue, detailed below:
16/11 – Pete Doherty
18/11 – Youssou Ndour and the Etoile de Dakar
2/12 – Nada Surf
3/12 – MZ
Bataclan’s management team said in a statement featured on ITV News:
The renovation work at the Bataclan has started.
This will consist of renovating the structure and facilities but not changing the venue itself.
We’re going to try to preserve its warmth and friendliness. We also want to maintain the popular and festive spirit which was always hers.
Since forming The Libertines in 1997, Doherty has proved and extensive career in music, modelling, film, the arts, and in performing arts. Successful as a solo artist – releasing Grace/Wastelands in 2009 – Doherty increased popularity forming Babyshambles in 2005. Certainly in this decade, Doherty created tabloid headline fame for many other reasons with his involvement with drugs, and other legal issues.
However, these legal issues failed to overshadow the immense talent of Pete Doherty. Winner of Best Solo Artist in the 2009 Shockwave NME awards, his presence will be an outstanding feature to the anticipated opening of the Bataclan Theatre.
