Arlo Parks’ acclaimed debut ‘Collapsed In Sunbeams’ was a total delight of a listen, but Arlo’s headline tour has had to be pushed back due to Covid restrictions.
London singer songwriter Parks released her stunning debut in January this year. She has yet to play these tracks live due to continued re-arrangement due to Coronavirus restrictions in the UK. Parks was due to play a series of legendary and acclaimed indie venues across the UK. Village Underground, Thekla, Shepherd’s Bush and more are all to be featured.
Parks’ album didn’t just garner a good critical response, she is nominated for three gongs at the Brit Awards, including Female Solo Artist, Breakthrough Artist and Mastercard Album of The Year. It’s a superb achievement from Parks and a welcome move from The Brits, who had attracted criticism in the past for lacking diversity in its nominations.
Arlo is due to perform at the awards show too, “thank you 2 everyone who’s allowed me n my tunes to grow roots in their lives!! THIS IS SO EXCITING IM NERVOUS BUT I CANNOT WAIT.” Parks tweeted - the rest of the performing line up is full of potential winners, such as Headie One, The Weekend and Dua Lips: the rescheduled show is bound to be exciting.
Getting the nod for best album is a great achievement for Parks, who is a thrilling talent at only 20 years old. Her unique blend of poetry and spoken word tracks are romantic and rosy eyed. She paints accurate lyrical paintings of life, love and loss over neo-soul style instrumentals.
Parks will be top of the list for many concert-goers once lockdown rules ease again. Her tour is effectively sold out across the country. She promises a real party- her fantastic style will surely make this a tour that is not to be missed.
