Lead singer of UK Metal band Architects Sam Carter has been praised by many recently, after halting his band’s set, in order to call out an act of sexual assault he saw in the crowd during the gig.
The band were performing at the Netherlands’ Lowlands festival this past weekend, when the Brighton-based singer paused between songs to address his audience.
“I’ve been going over in my fucking mind about whether I should say something or not about what I saw in that last song,” Carter said.
“And do you know what? I’m going to fucking say it.
“I saw a girl, a woman, crowdsurfing over here and I’m not going to point the fucking piece of shit out that did it, but I saw you fucking grab at her boob. I saw it.
“It is fucking disgusting and there is no fucking place for that shit. It is not your fucking body, it is not your fucking body and you do not fucking grab at someone. Not at my fucking show.

With sexual assault at gigs and festivals still a major concern in modern music and events, Carter’s words were naturally met with a roar of approval from the crowd. The incident comes barely weeks after Circa Survive frontman Brendan Ekstrom walked offstage after witnessing a similarly unpleasant incident.
The issue is clearly an international one, with UK festival Lovebox also coming under criticism after reports of the festival’s own security staff being involved in sexual assault emerged.
Back in May, many festivals took part in a social media blackout, in order to raise and promote awareness of the issue, citing the increasing incidents of sexual assault at festivals as ‘a growing concern’, and encouraging a zero tolerance policy to be upheld at gigs and festivals, for both security members and festivalgoers who bare witness to such unpleasantness.
