Anne-Marie has announced details of her biggest ever tour-to-date, with the singer set to play 14 shows in the UK and Ireland in 2019. The Essex-born singer is scheduled to hit the road and kick start her 14-date tour in Bournemouth, on the 21st of May 2019, before she is set to wrap things up in London, on the 12th of June 2019. The singer/song-writer is taking to the road in support of her latest album ‘Speak Your Mind’. Tickets for the shows go on sale at on Friday the 5th of October 2018, at 10am.
One aspect of Anne-Marie’s shows, which her fans have grown to love, is her uninhibited and candid stage patter and it is an aspect of her shows that she has over most of her peers on the British pop scene. “When I go on stage, I just talk a lot, naturally, in between songs. I didn’t realise I did that, and I actually stopped for a while… but my band was like, ‘We really miss when you used to talk to the crowd. That’s when people really get to know who you are’.
“People can get to know you through the music, but I want them to feel like they know me as a person too. And nothing’s ever planned, that’s what helps as well. I don’t have a rehearsed speech in between songs, which is probably why it feels so natural, because even I don’t know what’s going to come out of my mouth,” Anne-Marie says.
The Essex-born singer rose to fame in 2016 when the single from her debut album ‘Alarm’ made it to No 2 in the UK charts and went platinum. The singer was previously a vocalist for Rudimental and has since gone on to work with a plethora of musical acts. Anne-Marie featured on Clean Bandit’s smash-hit track ‘Rockabye’ with Jamaican rapper Sean Paul which earned the Christmas No1 spot in 2018 after nine consecutive weeks at the top of the charts. She has since gone on to collaborate with the likes of Snake Hips and Marshmellow.
Speaking about her latest album, ‘Speak Your Mind’, to the Huffington Post UK, Anne-Marie, said: “A lot of people know me through the collaborations that I’ve done. So, I just really wanted something that explains the way my brain is and how I feel about things. And I think that this album does that for me. I know I’m really proud of it, and I really love every song, so that’s, like, the first hurdle to get over when you’re putting an album out. I just really hope that everyone else likes it too.”
‘Speak Your Mind’ covers a range of themes, from heartbreak and toxic relationships to nostalgia and self-empowerment. Anne-Marie said: “That was one of the main things that I wanted for this album. I wanted it to mean something. I wanted to have a lot of different subjects on there. I want people to go away from it feeling happy, feeling strong and feeling like they can speak to someone if they’ve got a problem. I just want people to feel good after they’ve heard it and make them think about things.
“I honestly always really try to get people to share their feelings. I always say to everyone that communication is key. And the struggle is, no one really talks to each other anymore. We need to just tell people how we’re feeling. So hopefully, the album will make people feel like they can do that even more.”
