Ane Brun has released a new music video for “Ta Tak I Me”, a translated version of her previously released single “Take Hold Of Me”.
The 45-year-old singer and musician has released a new music video that documents the translation of the single into Norwegian, the singer’s native language . The new single, “Ta Tak I Me”, is the second track to be released from Brun’s upcoming 2022 album. The album will contain a tracklist of the singer’s vast discography translated into Norwegian. The tracks will serve to create a Norwegian musical, with the basis and story formed from Braun’s songs.
The single was originally released in 2020 and was taken from the singer’s ninth studio album After The Great Storm. The 2020 album was recently nominated for the Hyundai Nordic Music prize at this year’s event. The award ceremony was set up to create unity and awareness throughout the music industry within Nordic regions. Previous winners of the prestigious award include The Knife and Robyn.
Brun provides the following statement concerning the single’s origins, she also describes how the lyrical content has become evidently current due to the COVID pandemic: ”Take Hold of Me” started out with these few lines: My existence is screaming, it’s a physical feeling, of missing out on dance and light, try to describe an existential complex state of mind. An abstract feeling, and something that I’ve felt come and go through the years, that I find myself wanting contradictory things. I want to tour the world, but also at the same time never travel, grow my own vegetables, live in a big house and have a bunch of dogs”
“I think the song sprung out from a kind of mid-life crisis, where I was questioning the direction my life was taking. And in some ways, during covid, these lyrics were emphasised somehow. A feeling that things are on hold, that life is not lived in its’ full potential, and that the bigger questions are so present right there on the surface, it is something that at least I have experienced in this very different time we’ve been going through” she continued.
Born as Ane Kvien Brunvoll, the multi-talented artist’s vocal talents have origins within Sami traditions. The singer has released ten albums since her debut, Spending Time With Morgan, released 25th May 2003. Also included within her discography are three live albums, two compilations, four EP’s and over 30 singles. The singer has achieved three number albums within the Norwegian charts with her second studio album A Temporary Drive, Changing of The Seasons and It All Starts With One. The artist is also known as the founder of the record label, Balloon Ranger Recordings. The label also houses its own publishing company and has headquarters located in Stockholm, Sweden.
