Alicia Keys is to perform new music at football’s prestigious UEFA Champions League Final next month 28/5 in Milan. Prior to this Alicia Keys’ new album will be released on 16/5 following the success of the 2012 Girl on Fire. This will be the first time an artist has performed at this tournament final which attracts huge audiences spanning over 220 countries with around 180 million viewers.

In previous finals, performances were conducted by dance groups and choirs performing the official UEFA Champions League anthem.

Alicia Keys commented on the mass scale of the event:

“It’s pretty insane. I know there is going to be 80,000 people there in person and people are all over the world are going to witness it and watch this and celebrate.”

“My mother’s family is from Italy, so whenever I go, I always feel the most loved. I feel like it’s a homecoming of love in a lot of ways.”

Famously Alicia Keys was the first female to achieve an MTV Unplugged Number One album: the highest since Nirvana in 1994.

Alicia Keys’ new album will be her sixth studio album – debut album Songs in A Minor was released in 2001. This year Alicia Keys has joined the coaching team on The Voice extending her wider filmographic list since making an episode appearance in The Cosby Show (S1. Ep. 22) playing the character of ‘Maria’, in 1985.

No doubt a tour will follow and dates will be revealed once announced.
