Pirate Metal icons Alestorm recently announced that they have entered the studio to record their seventh album, entitled Seventh Rum of a Seventh Rum, continuing once again with their long-time producer Lasse Lammert once recording at Middle Farm Studios in Devon, England. The album will see the band back in full force and sailing the seven seas at some point this year, though there is still no date for when the album is expected to be released so fans will have to wait and see.
The band released a statement on their social media pages that reads: “We have just entered the studio to record our 7th album, which will be called “Seventh Rum of a Seventh Rum”. We’ll be spending the next month with our long-time producer Lasse Lammert at Middle Farm Studios in sunny Devon, England, recording all the instruments and vocals and having a very silly time. Of course we will have a bunch of updates for you coming later on, with the tracklist, album art, release dates, and all that nonsense. Stay tuned!”
Additionally, Alestorm recently shared the album’s further progress on their Instagram page with a picture of frontman Christopher Bowes holding a computer with a list of song titles. They accompanied the picture with the words: “Oh wow! It’s Day 5 in the studio and we’ve already recorded a boatload of stuff for our upcoming album” and then they jokingly added, “If you can guess the real name of all these songs, you’ll win a year’s supply of ham!”
The Scottish band’s new album will be their seventh studio album to date following on from the rather amusingly named Curse of the Crystal Coconut released back in May of 2020.
Alestorm has also extended their worldwide record deal with Napalm Records for another three albums. Napalm Records has been working alongside Alestorm since their very early days all the way back to their debut album Captain Morgan’s Revenge in 2008. Since then around founding member, singer and the only ever-present Christopher Bowes the band have built a stellar career, reigning as one of the biggest and most important bands in the genre.
