The West London-based rapper AJ Tracey has returned with a new album ‘Flu Game’ and a new video ‘Little More Love’ which dropped at midnight. The 16-track album features collaborations with a variety of artists such as Mabel, Digga D, Kehlani and T-Pain. The album was named after a basketball match where Michael Jordan led Chicago Bulls to victory at the 1997 NBA finals despite suffering from food poisoning at the time – the album cover features AJ wearing a number 10 jersey in inspiration.
‘Flu Game’ has received a range of mixed reviews so far – NME has given it four stars, saying: “Although not every track is a total slam dunk, AJ has here crafted another successful project whose streaming numbers, singles and infectious melodies will live on in memory.” Whereas The Financial Times has given it three stars, saying: “A weak basketball theme and insubstantial lyrics let down the Londoner’s limber rapping.”
‘Little More Love’ is a music video directed by KC Locke and AJ Tracey himself and produced by Lewis Nicholson – it is the ninth track in ‘Flu Game’. The video features neon blue visuals, referencing the 1998 crime film ‘Belly’, which features rapper DMX who died on the 9th of April following a heart attack. AJ Tracey pays tribute to DMX throughout the ‘Little More Love’ video, ending in a black screen that reads “IN LOVING MEMORY OF DMX/ THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING”.
