Adele, 32, has been making headlines since the beginning of the year due to her significant weight loss; the singer is estimated to have dropped seven stone (44.5 kg) since starting her fitness journey some time around 2018. But beyond her outer appearance and physical wellbeing, Adele has reported a massive improvement in her mental health in recent months. Although her infrequent social media posts are generally concisely-captioned, the London-born star’s latest Instagram post, dedicated to Glennon Doyle’s self-help autobiography ‘Untamed: Stop Pleasing, Start Living’, was uncharacteristically lengthy.
According to Adele, ‘This book will shake your brain and make your soul scream’. She described reading it as being ‘as if I just flew into my body for the very first time’. Continuing her glowing review, she advised prospective readers to ‘have a highlighter on hand to make notes because you’ll want to refer back to it’. Adele confessed that until she read the book, she ‘thought we were meant to be stressed and disheveled, confused and selfless like a Disney character’, but now realises that ‘I am solely responsible for my own joy, happiness and freedom… our own liberation liberates those around us’.
‘Untamed’, Glennon Doyle’s latest book, was published just five months ago and is already The New York Times’ #1 Best Seller. Its Amazon description reads ‘Part inspiration, part memoir, Untamed explores the joy and peace we discover when we stop striving to meet the expectations of the world, and instead dare to listen to and trust in the voice deep inside us’. Doyle is the author of three best sellers, two of which reached the prestigious #1 position, and an active philanthropist. In 2012, she founded Together Rising, a women-led nonprofit organisation assisting families in crisis.
Perhaps thanks to Doyle’s book, Adele has been radiating positivity in her social media comeback, sharing makeup-free pictures of herself singing along to TV recordings of her past live performances and smiling with her natural blonde curls as she watches a Beyoncé music video. This optimistic energy has been recognised by her followers, one commenting ‘Adele, you look terrific’, another exclaiming ‘Beautiful inside and out!’. Fans were also grateful for Adele’s book recommendation; one commenter, who had already read ‘Untamed’, agreed with her rave review, saying ‘That book made me happy to be me again’.

Although fans were excited by her return to social media in May of this year, Adele has not put out new music since the release of ’25’ in 2015, and has not toured since 2017. Amid the uncertainty surrounding her next album’s drop date, one fan joked ‘If you’re stopping music to start a book club just let us know, we’ll join!’.
