Finally an Adele story that isn’t about her breaking any records or selling out the biggest venues on the planet! Adele hasn’t produced a statement about the story but has had a representative confirm that she has not given any permission for any political persons to use her music; a thinly veiled confirmation that Donald Trump (Republican hopeful for the Presidency for the US) is to no longer continue using her music as he has used her music time and time again. With ‘Rolling In The Deep’ and ‘Skyfall’ in particular having been used by Trump and his support group as he pushes to be the Republican Presidential nominee.
A spokesperson is reported to have said:
“Adele has not given permission for her music to be used for any political campaigning”.
Adele is not the first musician to have banned Trump from using their music, Aerosmith famously banned billonaire Trump, with the rock band having this to say on the matter:
“‘Trump for President’ does not have our client’s permission to use ‘Dream On’ or any of our client’s other music in connection with the Campaign because it gives the false impression that he is connected with or endorses Mr. Trump’s presidential bid.
We are unaware of any public performance license granting Trump for President the right to perform ‘Dream On’ in connection with the Campaign. If Trump for President has any such license, please forward it to our attention immediately”.
Legendary folk singer Neil Young has similarly banned Trump from using his music, which has seemingly led to bad blood between them, I doubt Neil Young is overly bothered!
‘Rolling In The Deep’ and ‘Skyfall’ are of course two of Adele’s most famous and successful singles, with ‘Skyfall’ having landed the Tottenham born singer an Academy Award and ‘Rolling In The Deep’ was a key part of Adele’s hugely successful ’21’ album.
