In, what are testing times to say the least, one feel good story has shone through like a lighthouse in a storm. It is, of course, Captain Tom and his heroic charitable efforts. The most recent being getting the number one spot in the charts this week.
This comes after his monumental effort of raising £29 million pounds walking around his garden massively surpassing his target of £1,000. His cover of “You’ll Never Walk Alone” features Michael Ball and the NHS voices of care choir. The proceedings for this also got donated to charity. Watch the heartwarming moment he finds out below;
The World War 2 veteran has broken multiple records along the way in his efforts. Being the most money raised through a Just Giving campaign and being the oldest person to have the number 1 spot.
He was due to go head to head with The Weeknd for the top spot, but the Canadian singer tweeted out to his fans telling them to support the captain and fundraising ventures. This shows just how far across the world the news got with multiple countries reporting on it.
