16 year old singer songwriter Jacob Reddy has created a music video with a child of the same name from his town, Blackburn.
6 year old Jacob Reddy from Lancashire had googled his own name to see if any of the ‘challenge’ videos he had made during the covid 19 lockdown had made it onto YouTube. With his dad Chris he had created 111 of these videos, some of which went viral. Instead of finding himself online, however, he came across a 16-year-old Jacob Reddy, a singer-songwriter just a quarter of an hour down the road. Young Jacob decided to message him after enjoying watching his videos and admiring his guitar playing skills, saying how he would like to play himself. To little Jacob’s excitement, the older boy responded.
16-year-old Jacob Reddy, a musician from Blackburn, kept in touch with his younger namesake over lockdown, encouraging him to keep learning the guitar and send him videos of his progress. The older Jacob was inspired to keep in touch because he remembered meeting band the Indie Killers at a wedding when he was a child; the musicians took the time to have a chat with him and take pictures, and it encouraged him to pick up his guitar. The band played again at his dad’s 40th birthday and Jacob had the opportunity to play with them on stage.
The singer-songwriter subsequently offered the young Jacob a part in his new music video. He told the Lancashire Telegraph that “Jacob was a lot of fun in the video and it was nice to meet him because I had been chatting with his dad on Twitter…The video features people of different ages and generations — and so I invited Jacob to be in it because he is young, and we have two Jacobs in the video.”
The new single is called ‘Everything’s Alright’, and comes out on the 18th June.
