The Irish musician, Hozier, announced on Friday that his highly anticipated EP, ‘Nina Cried Power’, will be released on the 6th of September 2018. The ‘Take Me To Church’ singer, whose real name is Andrew Hozier-Byrne, last released music in 2015 with the ‘Live In America’ EP, which followed the 2014 release of his, chart topping, self-titled debut album.
He announced the release date of the long-awaited album through social media, with a Tweet of a handwritten note, which read “Thrilled to announced my new EP, Nina Cried Power, will be released on Sept. 6th. Can’t wait to share these songs with you. Many thanks and much love, Hozier.” He added: “This collection of songs is an example of what I’ve been working on in the last while and will be a small taste of what is to be expected from the upcoming album.”
The singer, who has stayed out of the spotlight for the past year, teased that he was preparing himself to return to the spotlight in June, when he announced a run of headlining shows in North American. He is set to kick off his run of headlining shows in Montreal, Canada on the 18th of September 2018.
The Grammy-nominated musician, will be performing across major U.S. and Canadian venues – including headlining shows in cities like Toronto, Chicago, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Tempe, San Diego, Seattle, Portland, and many more. Hozier is set to conclude is North American tour with a final show in Vancouver, Canada on the 22nd of October 2018.
“Very excited to announce the upcoming tour for later in the year, which will coincide with the releasing of new work. The completion of the record is fast approaching and I’m eager to share it with everyone,” Hozier says, speaking about his forthcoming North American tour and the, hotly anticipated, release of his new EP.
In 2016, Hozier discussed his plans for a second album with NME, stating that: “I’ve never been so eager to make music. I’m itching for it. In a big way. If this opportunity had happened at a different time I would have just been spent, but I had had maybe six days of quiet and I can’t really write on the road. But when it all stops and things are quiet again you’re just ready for things to fall out of you. I have a phone full of memos and loads of notebooks with little melodic ideas.”
