Controversial R&B singer Chris Brown revealed in a tweet today that his upcoming sixth album, ‘X‘, might be his last.
The 24 year old singer released the following tweet at 2:27pm today:
‘Don’t worry mainstream America. After this X album, it’ll probably be my last album’
What Brown means exactly by this is unclear – the clumsy wording could indicate that he intends to release one more LP after ‘X’, which is due for release on August 20th, or that ‘X‘ will, in fact, be his last album.
The tweet comes within hours of Browns release from custody in relation to an allegation of a hit and run offence in Los Angeles in late June, which he has vehemently denied, claiming he provided all the appropriate information to the other driver involved in the collision.
Brown is of course, no stranger to legal troubles – the 2009 incident in which he brutally assaulted his then-girlfriend Rihanna has cast a long dark shadow over his career. With his probation period revoked over the recent hit and run charges, he will now face the courts later this month, and if convicted, could serve up to four years in jail.
A later tweet from Brown, stated,
‘Being famous is amazing when it’s for your music and talent. I’m tired of being famous for a mistake I made when I was 18. I’m cool and over it’
The sincerity of Browns threat is not yet clear – it could well be a statement of anger over the stress of his many legal issues.
But we can all live in hope.
