Hayley Kiyoko, otherwise known as ‘The Lesbian Jesus’, has announced details of her first ever UK and European headline tour, this October. The pop phenomenon will be hitting the road in support of her acclaimed debut album ‘Expectations’, and will be performing in Manchester and London before hitting Europe.
The tour kicks off in Manchester’s Club Academy on the 24th of October and concluding in Lido, Germany on the 5th of November 2018. The tour will see Kiyoko play nine dates across the UK and Europe, including a show at London’s O2 Islington Academy on the 26th of October 2018. Tickets go on sale from 9am on the 2nd of August and can be purchased here.
The announcement came straight after Kiyoko’s surprise appearance on stage with Taylor Swift last Thursday at the Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA during Swift’s ‘Reputation’ tour. Since April, Kiyoko has been touring North America with a successful headline tour that included performances at Coachella and NYC’s historic Irving Plaza. Currently, she is supporting Panic! At The Disco on their North American tour. Kiyoko recently joined Brendon Urie on stage, during their Toronto gig to perform “Girls/Girls/Boys”.
Kiyoko made headlines last month when she spoke about her experience of coming out and how a fan helped. “I came out to her and said, ‘I just want to sing about being cocky and stealing someone’s girl, because that’s my dream.’ She told me to write about it,” says Kiyoko.
Kiyoko added that: “I was shocked at how people weren’t judging me,” she said. “I was ready to be judged, and I was ready to be labelled. That was a moment for me where I was like, I can be myself and people are okay with that.”
Kiyoko, 26, has seen her debut album ‘Expectations’ has launched her into one of the most celebrated new artists in the pop landscape of her time. The Guardian, said: “Her airy, LA-dreamy debut album sounds sparklingly refreshing, with none of the usual suspects in its production credits, and Kiyoko’s own song writing voice – frank, fun, fearlessly tussling with her emotions – floods through.”
VICE, describes Kiyoko as “exactly what we need from a pop star in 2018″. It was announced, earlier this month that Kiyoko, has been nominated for both the Best New Artist and Best Push Artist awards at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards, which take place in New York on the 20th of August.
