The wait may be over for Gorillaz’s many fans, as the band appear to have confirmed the release date of their newest album. After following a breadcrumb trail of cryptic posters, Instagram stories and website links, fans were rewarded with a quick flash of one date: June 29th.
Band member Jamie Hewlett confirmed last year that new music would be dropping in 2018, but until now fans have been in the dark about exactly when. However, eagle-eyed patrons at this year’s All Points East Festival in London noticed posters with the words “No more unicorns anymore”, a slogan that Hewlett had posted on his Instagram back in April.

The posters also featured new slogans like “Algorithm is a dancer”, “G is the magic number” and “You gotta have fate”. Each poster also had the words “thenownow.tv” along the bottom, which fans quickly realised was a web address. Following the URL results in a short video clip, which shows Gorillaz member 2-D playing the guitar and the words “The Now Now”, along with the June 29th date.
As if all that wasn’t enough of a giveaway, Jamie Hewlett’s wife Emma De Caunes also took to social media to spread the good news, sharing The Now Now logo and release date on her own Instagram story. As of right now, the Gorillaz’s official social media is staying quiet about the new development but, given that back in March member Damon Albarn said new music was coming “very soon” during a performance, it seems likely that they will confirm the date in the coming weeks.
