Bombay Bicycle Club have announced a tour of the UK and Ireland in 2024. The main portion of the tour starts on January 29th in Belfast and commences on February 18th in Cardiff. The band will then head to London to play the Alexandra Palace Park months later July 12th. Tickets can be found here.
Alongside the tour announcement the band announced and released new song ‘Tekken 2’, featuring R&B legend Chaka Khan. The track will be included on the band’s upcoming album, My Big Day, which has already had singles like ‘Turn The World On’, ‘Diving’, ‘I Want To Be Your Pet’ and the title track for the album. The new single released alongside a video which can be view below
Frontman Jack Steadman spoke about the track, as he said: “It has been a pretty crazy journey, from sitting on my sofa messing around with a keyboard and drum machine to sitting across from Chaka Khan in a fancy LA studio giving her singing directions. Chaka was an absolute superstar and the whole experience was so positive. I think the song reflects that – it’s about coming together, putting any bad thoughts aside and just enjoying the moment.”
Chaka Khan also commented on working on the track, as she said: “After Jack invited me and then sent the song, I loved it, the ethereal part drew me in. The band has such innovative and passionate energy, truly great musicians. Absolute vibes.”
The upcoming album, The Big Day, which releases October 20th, features a plethora of guests including Damon Albarn, Holly Humberstone, Jay Some, Nilüfer Yanya and as mentioned earlier Chaka Khan.
Jack Steadman has also previously spoke about working with Damon Albarn on the album, stating: “I actually went and played him the album, cause I value his opinion a lot. It was just one song, where instead of giving me a few notes or feedback, he just got his engineer to bring him a microphone and just started singing this melody. It was kind of a curse as well as a blessing. It’s so good but am I ever going to persuade him to actually finish it and write the lyrics?”
Tickets for the upcoming tour are available on presale on October 25th at 9am (BST) and go on general sale on October 27th at 9am (BST). Tickets can be found for both the presale and general sale here.
