Sam Fender was forced to pause his Leeds Festival set due to a medical emergency in the crowd.
The crowd during Fender’s set became rowdy enough that they were forced to momentarily stop the performance as Fender noticed a fan in need of assistance. He addressed the crowd, saying “We need some help over here, let’s stop.”
He went on to check that the fan was okay, asking, “You ok? We need help over here, we’re going to have to calm down.”
A source discussed the event with The Mirror, saying, “We’re not sure what happened but Sam acted very quickly and made sure that nothing happened until the medics and security got the fan out of the crowd.”
The incident occurred after Fender’s performance of “Spice,” with Fender going on to say, “well we’ve got the punky ones out the way now” after a mosh-pit led to a fan being in need of medical assistance.
Following his headlining sets at Reading and Leeds, Fender took to Twitter to share an emotional and heartfelt message with his fans, expressing what it means to him to have made it as a headline act.
He wrote, “To headline was unfathomable, me and the lads have always felt more comfortable as the underdogs, we’ve been the underdogs for 7 years – from our first show in Ullapool in Scotland, in that beat up van with doors that didn’t open, all the way to this weekend. The imposter syndrome is real, but I suppose that means it’s actually happening.“
Me and Dean went to @officialrandl when we were 18, my tent got set on fire when I was asleep in it. Me and Dean launched hotdogs out of tent poles at groups of lads chanting ‘Yorkshire’ just for a bit of fun, and kept up the long standing tradition of northern rivalry… pic.twitter.com/dhbDFLMvb8
