Speaking of their last show, Black Sabbath said in a statement “To bring it all back home after all these years was pretty special. It was so hard to say goodbye to the fans, who’ve been incredibly loyal to us throughout the years. We never dreamed in the early days that we’d be here 49 years later doing our last show on our home turf.”
The band initially reunited in 2011 but without original drummer Bill Ward after a dispute concerning the band’s contract, yet four years on, he hit out at Sharon Osbourne saying she was the reason that he left the band. Speaking to the Eddy Trunk Podcast, Ward said “I know that Sharon definitely dislikes me, and she has for a long, long time. And I also know that she is inside all these contractual things, these unsignable contracts and everything else. She’s right there, right in the center of everything — as are the other lawyers as well, the other representatives. But, you know, the statements were made by Ozzy. It’s broken up the friendship that we had. There’s no doubt about it. I mean, it fucking killed the friendship.”
However, since the final Black Sabbath show, Ward has made his peace with the band. Talking to Rolling Stone Magazine, he said “My general outlook towards them is not of resentment, it’s not of fear, it’s not of hatred or anything like that. I actually really, really, really love these guys. I wish them absolutely nothing but the very best, I wish them nothing but the best in their lives.”
