FKA Twigs has stepped into a new chapter of her stratospheric rise with her latest single titled “Killer”. The song follows the release of her Caprisongs LP which featured short and sweet songs in a new playful style for the talented performer. Now, we see her return to form with a dramatic new piece that displays a tender theme of love and loss. Read on to see what FKA Twigs is up to now!
The song itself features a heartfelt message which is delivered with potent honesty and crystalline vocal melodies, progressing into a hard-hitting ballad which employs a miraculous blend of electronic textures and a punchy rhythm. Once again, FKA Twig’s eclectic influences of avant pop and Kate Bush feel present in this latest track. The immaculate sound is the result of a strong collaboration with some of modern pop’s most esteemed producers, having been written alongside Jimmy Napes, Amanda Ghost and Jonny Coffer. “Killer” was produced by FKA Twigs and Coffer with additional production help from El Guincho.

Discussing the inspiration behind the latest song, Twigs revealed; “It’s dangerous to be a woman in love, when at its worst, the effects of heartbreak can define one’s trajectory much more than the beauty of the love itself, in my song ‘Killer’, I explore this concept.”
She later added; “The navigation, the hunt and the kill. The death of promises, dreams and the future that was once promised. But like the wildest plucked roses, I find myself more beautiful delicately wilted, in shadow, forced solace, darkened at the edges and achingly thirsting to be tended to again.”
Earlier this year FKA Twigs was awarded the title of Godlike Genius at the 2022 Bandlab NME awards. After a spectacular performance, Twigs said in her speech; “I don’t know a godlike genius but it’s a godlike strength to carry on throughout difficult times, the personal experiences, through world experience. The hardest thing to do is to keep going and I feel so grateful to know people like [Soul II Soul legend Jazzie B, who presented the award] who I know stayed up all night making music and people like Boy George who do the exact same, staying up all night making art and music. That’s what I’m doing and I’m just so grateful that there’s a space for me here.”
