English singer and songwriter, Dua Lipa, has announced that she has been working extra hard on new music, and is half-way through finishing her third album. No official date for the release of the album has been publicised, but in an interview with the Wall Street Journal she said, “In all honesty, it’s probably not what my fans want to hear, but I’m in no rush…I’ve done a big chunk of writing: It’s starting to take shape; I’ve got a lot of it recorded… It has a vision. It has a name, I think—for now. It’s just been fun experimenting.” Looking back at history, there was a three-year break between her debut album, “Dua Lipa” and her second smash hit album, “Future Nostalgia” – Though, I’m sure Dua fans are hoping they won’t have to wait the full three years for her next release.
In an interview with U.S Vogue magazine, she hinted that the material in her new album will contain more mature and unspoken material than in any of her previous albums, stating, “I’ve definitely grown up. Overall, whether it’s sonically or in terms of the themes, I’ve matured. It’s like I’m coming into my power and not afraid to talk about things. It’s about understanding what I want”. She also added in the Wall Street Journal interview that, “I’m always going to make pop music, but it has its own unique sound, which is exciting and something that feels like a movement from Future Nostalgia. It’s still in baby form, so we’ll see as it progresses.”
Due released “Future Nostalgia” back in March 2020, which happened to be just after the pandemic struck. As a result, she was forced to postpone the tour multiple times before it finally began in February 2022. Although she feels that she has grown a lot since the release of the the album, she voiced her happiness in seeing her fans enjoying the songs live. The 26-year-old shared, “I didn’t get to see people’s reaction to the album in real life. So being on tour and seeing the crowds is like, ‘Oh, it was a really big album.’ I get so excited seeing people coming together as a collective,”.
Dua Lipa is currently touring across the world (25 countries). She has finished her tour around the US and UK, and is heading next to France. After touring around much of Europe she will be heading to Australia and New Zealand for further performances and festivals.
