Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Ozzy Osbourne has confirmed that he has finished work on his latest solo album, which is due to be released with his label Epic Records. The album is set to follow his last record titled Ordinary Man which debuted in 2020.
Sharing a post on social media, the former Black Sabbath frontman stated; “I’m so happy to let everyone know that I finished my new album this week and delivered it to my label Epic Records. I’ll be sharing all the information about the album and its upcoming release with you in the next several weeks,” .
According to a financial statement issued By Sony at the end of 2021, the new record is set to drop before the end of April 2022. Alongside Osbourne the band is comprised of a who’s who of modern rock. Namely Andrew Watt (producer) and Robert Trujillo (Metallica) on guitar. Whilst Chad Smith (Red Hot Chilli Peppers) and formerly the late Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters) taking charge of the drums.
The band’s guitarist and producer Andrew Watt stated; “There’s a bunch of people involved, I can’t say for sure until the end, but I started doing a bunch of basic tracks with Chad and Robert Trujillo, who used to play in Ozzy’s band. Taylor Hawkins also came in and played a bunch on the record as well, which adds a different flair – it kind of harkened back to Ozzy’s ’80s era, in a great way. And I think it’s so cool for a rock fan to be able to listen to half an album with Chad Smith on drums, and then you flip it over and you get to hear Taylor Hawkins. But, you know, it’s been hard with COVID and everything to keep him safe, we all test every day before we work and it’s just me, Ozzy and my engineer.”
Alongside his efforts in creating this new album, Osbourne has joined up with Bono, The Edge, Bruce Springsteen and Elton John to campaign for solidarity with the people of Ukraine. Working as part of Global Citizen’s new ‘Stand Up For Ukraine’ campaign which has been described by the organisation as; “The largest social media rally for refugee relief”. The aim of the movement is aimed at inspiring people to share messages of support and outcry in alignment with the Ukrainian peoples.
At the tail end of last year Osbourne rescheduled his UK and European tour named ‘No More Tours 2’ for the second time due to the restrictions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. The shows (supported by Judas Priest) will now hopefully come to fruition in 2023.
