Los Angeles “Satanic doo-wop” duo Twin Temple have released a music video for their new single “Let’s Have a Satanic Orgy” which they released last month. The single contains a B-side entitled “Tengamos La Orgía Satánica”, which is an alternate version of the same song with Spanish lyrics. In light of this, Twin Temple have released two music videos: one featuring the English version of the song, and the other featuring the Spanish version. You can listen to the single via all streaming services, and the music video can be viewed on YouTube by clicking the link below.
The cartoon (dubbed a “pentagramatoon” in a recent press release) is most certainly not for young eyes, depicting (you guessed it) a cartoon satanic orgy, complete with naked devils, pentagrams, and rings of fire. The first half of the cartoon is in black and white, styled almost as if it is a Disney cartoon from the ‘20s, later transitioning to colour as the video progresses. Alexandra of Twin Temple said herself, according to a press release: “Come take a trip with us into the depraved pits of Hell and slake thine eyes on our most blasphemous Pentagrammatoon picture yet! Not for the faint of heart, this titillating picture has already been banned before its release. Don’t watch with your pastor looking over your shoulder. Warning – to watch this is to sin. Proceed with caution.”
For those unfamiliar with the LA duo, the band certainly live up to their self-proclaimed “Satanic doo-wop” style in this song, with the sonic spirit of the 1950s fully on display, feeling almost theatrical at times between the eerie yet deliciously catchy saxophone and warm sounding analogue production.
According to a press release, Twin Temple said of the new single and its sonic influence: “We love Latin music. It’s an integral part of early Doo-Wop and a huge influence on us. This latest single is us continuing to explore that concept and sound in our own blasphemous way, of course. We chose to have a flip cover for the 7” as opposed to having an A-Side and B-Side so that the Spanish and English versions are equal. They’ll be released simultaneously as well, to reflect that equality.”
Twin Temple are presently on tour in the US with Ghost and Volbeat, and will be embarking on a UK and EU tour in April with Ghost and Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats. Ticket information can be found here, and the UK dates can be viewed down below.
