NME reports that the Kooks have announced plans for a huge UK tour, starting in April 2017. The band will be around the nation for a huge 17 dates, beginning at the Manchester Academy on April 21, before finishing at London’s Alexandra Palace on May 17.
The tour could be seen as a belated celebation of ten years since the Kooks were formed, in Bright in 2006. Last month, their debut album Inside In/Inside Out was also certified to be five times platinum. The band have released three albums in the subsequent years, most recently in the form of 2014’s Listen.
Frontman Luke Pritchard was very outspoken about the band’s difficulties during the recording of their most recent album, telling NME that “We were bored of ourselves. People are a bit bored of guitar bands, but at the end of the day, it’s only the feeling behind it, and music needs that to work.”
Despite these comments, it is being reported that the setlist for the tour will revolve around playing the greatest hits of The Kooks, as well as b-sides, and a collection of several previously unheard songs that the band have been recording over the past year.
