Moldovan progressive metal outfit Infected Rain have released their upcoming fifth album entitled Ecdysis. The album was released two days ago on the 7th of January 2022 via Napalm Records. You can order the album here, and you can view the music video for the song “Longing” down below.
The band revealed the fourth and final single, along with its accompanying music video on the same day that the record was released. The formidable tune displays the duality of the band’s progressive metal sound, ranging from razor sharp down tuned guitar riffs paired with frontwoman Lena Scissorhands’ intense screams, to melodic choruses helmed by haunting sung vocals backed by strummed guitars and atmospheric synthesisers. “Longing” is the fourth single from the record, and was preceded by “Postmortem Pt. 1”, “Fighter”, and “The Realm of Chaos”, released in October, November and December respectively. “The Realm of Chaos” features vocalist Hiedi Shepherd, of American metal band Butcher Babies.
Speaking on the new record in a press release, vocalist Lena Scissorhands reflected on the influence that the COVID-19 pandemic and the consequent time spent in isolation had on the album’s writing process, saying: “While the whole world was in a deep depression, Ecdysis was slowly but surely maturing. The time in isolation away from all our plans and goals, away from loved ones and the stage, brought out something so new and different in us. A new chapter starts with this album, a chapter of raw emotions and complete commitment.”

Now, the band arises from the dark depths once again.
