Rock legends Metallica will play a one-off, free to enter show at London’s House of Vans, on November 18. The gig will celebrate the release of the band’s eleventh album Hardwired…To Self Destruct (which is released on the same date), and will allow fans to revel in the release of the new album, as well as enjoying other hits from Metallica’s extensive discography.
Since the House of Vans opened in 2014, they have welcome a wide array of musical acts, and clearly the a celebration of one of the most successful rock and metal bands of all time is a very special way to end the year. The concert will also continue to mark Vans’ celebration of their 50th anniversary, as well as the release of special lines of shoes and clothes that were released in March of this year.
Ticketing for the even will be free to the public, and obtainable through a ballot system, which was opened at 10am GMT yesterday, and which will close at 6pm GMT on November 13. You can enter for tickets at houseofvanslondon.com.
Hardwired…To Self Destruct marks not only Metallica’s 35th year as a band, but their first album since 2008’s Death Magnetic, and is the first release of any form since the band simultaneously released the soundtrack and film Through the Never. The film starred Dane DeHaan as a roadie for the band, with a narrative intercut between two Metallica gigs that were shot in 2012.
In the build up to Hardwired…To Self Destruct, the band has so far released music videos for the tracks “Atlas, Rise!”, “Moth Into Flame”, and pseudo-title-track “Hardwired.”
