Adele has secured her fifth consecutive week at number one. The singer’s single “Easy On Me” has remained at the top spot and proves to be a huge hit. OfficialCharts.com took to Instagram to post this week’s top 10 singles within the UK.
Since its release, the single has been battling with Ed Sheeran’s track “Shivers” within the UK Official Charts. The 31-year-old singer released “Easy On Me” on 15th October 2021 via Columbia Records. The chart-topping track is the lead single to be taken from Adele’s newly released fourth studio album, 30. The album was released on 19th November via Melted Stone and Columbia Records and has also enjoyed chart success.
Since the track’s release, the beautiful ballad has enjoyed huge radio play and has received both critical and commercial success. The sales record for the track speaks for its success, accumulating over 67,000 charts sales and 7.6 million streams. With its fifth week at number one “Easy On Me” has now tied with the singer’s most successful single “Someone Like You”. The track was released on 24th January 2011 and became Adele’s first UK number-one single and remained at the top of the charts for five weeks.
The MBE recipient has experienced a fierce comeback with her new material, the singer’s recent album is her first full-length release since the 2015 album 25. It has been reported by OfficialCharts.com that Adele is set to dominate the chart with multiple songs in the running. The album’s two most-played tracks have now entered the charts, this means that the singer is now in a three-way battle with herself for the number one single. The new singles, “Oh My God” and “My Little Love”, have both placed in high positions and will contend with number one single “Easy On Me”.
This week also saw Taylor Swift make a triumphant return to the charts. Her new single was this week’s highest new entry, “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version)“, charting at number three. The chart position marks the American singer’s 18th top 10 single within the UK. The single has been taken from Swift’s new album, Red (Taylor’s version), a re-released version of the 2012 album Red. The re-worked track is the third single to be released from the singer’s re-imagined album. “State Of Grace (Taylor’s Version)” has re-entered the UK charts at number 18 and “Red (Taylor’s Version)” has also returned to the singles charts at number 22.
Elsewhere within the charts, two British acts achieved their first top 10 single. “Seventeen Going Under” has climbed 13 places to the higher position of number 9 and was released on 7th July 2021. The single is the title track from the 27-year-old singer’s second studio album, Seventeen Going Under. The album was released on 8th October 2021 via Polydor Records and peaked at number one within the UK album charts. The second British artist to impress within the charts this week is SwitchOTR, the artist’s single “Coming For You ft. A1 XJ1” climbs four places to number ten this week.
