Rina Sawayama debuted her new single “Catch Me In The Air” live during her set in Glasgow. The singer is currently showcasing her first album Sawayama on the UK leg of her The Dynasty Tour and was performing at Glasgow’s SWG Galvaniser’s Yard, on November 13th when she announced her new single to an unsuspecting audience. The singer also announced news of her upcoming second untitled album during her new single reveal.

Rina Sawayama is a Japanese- British singer-songwriter, actress and model who made an impact in the music world with the release of her debut single “Sleeping In Waking” in February 2013. Sawayama also released her Halloween single “Terror” in 2013 and her self released EP Rina in 2017. The singer’s debut studio album Sawayama was released in 2020 to critical acclaim. The singer went on to win both the Daily California Art Awards for Best International Album and the Attitude Awards for Breakthrough Artist in 2020.
The musician’s tour for her first album Sawayama kicked off on November 9th and she made the decison to showcase her new single “Catch Me In The Air” during her tour on November 13th. The singer stated that her new single highlights her mother being a single parent and further said of their relationship “I felt throughout my life that my mum and I have caught each other when we’re falling.”

Sawayama also announced details of her upcoming untitled second album to her followers during her live Glasgow set and said that her second studio album will be more personal than her first. The singer announced details of her upcoming album in April and provided further details in September when she responded to one of her followers.

A new version of the singer’s single “Chosen Family” features on Sir Elton John’s The Lockdown Sessions album released in October. The singer said of their collabarative experience “The fact that he really loves the music and the lyrics, and was just happy to sing it as it was, that was insane” Sawayama continues her tour and will be performing in Birmingham today November 15th and the UK leg of her tour ends on November 17th at The Roundhouse in Camden. The singer will also be seen acting in the latest John Wick movie franchise John Wick 4. Sawayama’s role has been kept under wraps and will be revealed, when she stars alongside actor Keanu Reeves, as the movie hits the big screens in May 2022.
