Kamal announces his first headline show. The 19-year-old singer shared on his Instagram that he will be performing at his first headline show on the 18th of November at the Mildmay Club, London.
The 19-year-old has been releasing music since 2019 with his first two-pack Two Missed Calls which were released on August 16, 2019. The two-pack gained just under 2 million Spotify streams before dropping his next single “Homebody” this track was Kamal’s breakout single and racked up 18 million Spotify streams, which was followed by “Blue” which gained another respectable number of streams with 9 million Spotify streams.
Kamal is signed to the independent label Neighbourhood, alongside UK superstar Dave. The label headed by Dave and Kamal’s manager Benny Scars is not connected to any majors and independently releasing music for their two stars.
The duo signed to Neighbourhood, released their first track together on April the 10th before the release of both of their most recent projects. The track came out in a Dave two-pack titled Titanium and Mercury which came out to mark the ned of Daves Hiatus. Kamal featured on the track “Mercury” and showcased his talent alongside an artist many look at as the most talented in the UK. The track was also Kamals first song to feature in the official charts, [eaking at 33rd and staying in the charts for 4 weeks.
Kamal went on release his first long-form project on may the 9th this year, with the 7 track project titled War Outside which featured his standout track “Homebody”. The project showcased Kamal’s intimate music with his very personal lyrics alongside a voice that allows every emotion to be heard. In recent times Kamal received a nomination for Ivor’s academy award for the category rising star, Kamal didn’t win the award losing out to 19-year-old hip hop artist Willow Kayne.
Kamal’s rise was seen to have happened during the lockdown period in the UK, as we begin to ease out and life returns to normality Kamal will hope to finally get to connect with all the fans he made while they were trapped at home.
Kamal’s debut headline show is set to take place on the 18th of November, with tickets going on sale this Friday at 9:30 a.m.
