Wolves football club launch music label Wolves records. The premier league side has teamed up with Warner Music UK’s alternative distribution alliance, becoming the first UK club to launch a record label. The label will be headed by Wolves fans and musician S-X who has worked alongside the likes of Rick Ross, Lil Baby and Ksi, and will work as a production consultant for the club.
The 29-year-old Wolverhampton native shared a video on his Instagram announcing wolves records and his involvement with it.
Wolves record initial focus as shared with supporters on their official website will be to nurture and develop talented artists of all styles and genres local to the midlands, with the record labels ultimate goal being to expand into international territories.
Via the official statement released by the club on their website, Wolves general manager of marketing and commercial growth, Russell Jones said “Wolves Records is an ambitious and progressive project that we have been working on for some time, and we are delighted to finally be able to announce it publicly. Working hand-in-hand with Warner Music’s ADA and lots of very talented and experienced industry professionals, Wolves Records will provide talent with life-changing opportunities”
Wolves aren’t the first football club to venture into music with french side Olympique Marseille launching its rap label alongside music giant BMG. However, the midlands club is the first English club to venture into music, with the club opening sentence in their statement announcing the label being “The label, Wolves records, is an ambitious and unique proposition that will unite two of the worlds biggest passions – Music and football”
The newly birthed label is already accepting submissions from local, national and international solo acts, bands and producers for consideration on their website wolvesrecords.com.
