Next month is the eagerly anticipated BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Exeter (dates are 28th-29th May) and today BBC have announced those that will be performing on the ‘BBC Introducing Stage’ and as the name says; this is a stage used for musicians without perhaps the biggest reputation and offers them a chance to perform at a size able festival and to gain some time in the spotlight.
The acts that have been confirmed to play on the Introducing Stage are:
Izzy Bizu
Blossoms
Rosie Lowe
Declan McKenna
Spring King
The Hunna
Emmi
Black Foxxes
Alice Jemima
BBC Radio DJ Huw Stephens had this to say on the announcement:
“The line-up for the BBC Introducing Stage at this year’s Big Weekend is incredible once again, ”
“The talent we hear and champion across the BBC shows has many opportunities to shine throughout the year, and the stage in Exeter will definitely be a highlight this year, bringing talent from across the UK together to play in front of new music lovers, and millions at home via the radio and online.
“If you want to see some incredible new music, we’ve got you covered!”
Whilst it is the ‘Introducing Stage’ a few of these musicians are still relatively well known; Izzy Bizu and Blossoms in particular have enjoyed a fair bit of attention this past year, especially with having been nominated for the ‘BBC Sound of’ music list for 2016 along with eventual winner Jack Garratt.
As mentioned in the previous article tickets are difficult to get hold of for the Radio 1’s Big Weekend, as they are only available through BBC Radio 1 on air competitions and giveaways!
