Regina Spektor has released a new track via iTunes entitled, ‘You’ve Got Time’.
One of the leading ladies of the New York East Village anti-folk scene, Russian born singer-songwriter and pianist Spektor caught attention back in 2004 when her major label debut, ‘Soviet Kitsch’ became a critical sleeper hit. Her sixth album ‘What We Saw From The Cheap Seats’ was released last year to critical acclaim, with some dubbing her, ‘this generations Joni Mitchell’
‘You’ve Got Time’, will serve as the title theme song for the prison dramedy ‘Orange is the New Black’, which premieres on Netflix this week. Based on the memoir of the same name by Piper Kerman, the series, starring Taylor Shilling, Laura Prepon and Jason Biggs, follows the story of a university graduate struggling to adjust to life in prison after being given a 15 month sentence for money laundering.
Spektor’s music has already been frequently used in television and film, including the series’ Girls, Enlightened and recent BBC drama The Crash, as well as the soundtracks to Beastly and (500) Days of Summer.
In other good news for UK fans, Ms. Spektor will also be playing a set on the Sunday at Secret Garden Party Festival in Cambridgeshire.
