Chvrches has covered the classic track from Echo & The Bunnymen “The Killing Moon“. “We’ve been waiting to do this forever, so it only feels right that “The Killing Moon” be our first proper cover this year” the band shared on social media. And added: “PS: Watch Donnie Darko this weekend for an all-time great synch of the original version“.

The Scottish synth-pop band took on the track from 1984 that appeared on Echo and The Bunnymen’s album “Ocean Rain“. You can listen to the cover via Amazon Music.
Last week the band teamed up with legendary director John Carpenter for a new two-track single. It includes Chvrches remix of Carpenters “Turning The Bones” and Carpenter remix of Chvrches “Good Girls“. Talking about the project the band said: “As horror fans, we know that John Carpenter is the godfather and the gold standard so we’re so excited to get to work with him in any capacity“.
“His films and music have been so impactful on us over the years, and without the stories he created I am not sure that the concept of ‘Screen Violence’ (and female narratives within the album) would exist in the way they do“. Both remixes are available on YouTube and more info can be found here.
In the meantime, the band’s singer Lauren Mayberry revealed that they were targeted by a US scammer who tried to extort money from them via a webpage. “The practice is known as cybersquatting and involves registering, selling or using a domain name with the intent of profiting from the goodwill of someone else’s trademark“.
Mayberry added: “the scammer also asked for lifetime memberships of the American Automobile Association as part of the extortion“. The band refused to pay and registered their domain in Spain instead: “Our manager is very smart and said we could get Chvrches.es in Spain and that, to this day, is our website. So don’t try and kid a kidder. You can’t haggle a Glaswegian, it’s not going to work“.
Chvrches heading on to a UK Tour in March next year. Check out the tickets and more info about the venues here.
