English pop singer Jess Glynne rose to fame in 2014 after appearing on Clean Bandit’s number one hit single Rather Be and since has notched up an abundance of accolades, with her solo debut single reaching the UK top ten and subsequently earning herself five number one singles and a Grammy by 2015. Following the recent announcements that Coldplay and Muse will be headlining this year’s Glastonbury Festival at Worthy Farm, Jess Glynne confirmed whilst speaking on Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour that she too will be making an appearance at Glastonbury 2016.
Upon being asked whether she would be performing at Glastonbury on Radio 4, Glynne replied:
Yeah I think so. I didn’t know whether it’s been announced or not. […] Okay, yeah, we are doing Glastonbury. I’m so excited, I didn’t get to do it last year!
Glynne was due to perform at last year’s festival, however was forced to cancel due to undergoing vocal surgery. It seemed that misfortune fell on The Foo Fighters’ planned Glastonbury 2015 set too when Dave Grohl infamously broke his leg on stage during a concert in Sweden just days before they were due to headline the Pyramid Stage, resulting in the band having to pull out – however, sadly it has been confirmed by organisers that The Foo Fighters definitely won’t be at Worthy Farm this year either. Festival goers are still awaiting an announcement regarding who will headline this year’s Saturday Pyramid Stage slot, with Adele hotly tipped to take the coveted spot.
After festival organiser Michael Eavis revealed that more acts will be confirmed before April 1st, an announcement of the full line up for Glastonbury 2016 looks to be imminent. Glastonbury 2016 will take place between 22nd June to 26th June. All 135,000 tickets are currently sold out, however a second batch may become available in the coming months due to returns and cancellations.
