Latitude Festival has today announced their full 2021 lineup. Wolf Alice and Bombay Bicycle Club join Bastille and The Chemical Brothers as this year’s headliners.
The Suffolk festival will be returning to Henham Park, Suffolk, this July with a star-studded lineup. Other acts announced include Rudimental, Kaiser Chiefs, Hot Chip and Mabel, alongside comedic performances from Bill Bailey, Jo Brand and Katherine Ryan. The festival said of their comedy lineup: “A riotous summer weekend of laughter is just what we all need right now, which is why we’ve got an incredible Comedy lineup with something for everyone.”
Wolf Alice took to Instagram earlier today to write on the announcement: “8 years, several horrendous haircuts, three albums and we are back, but this time we are headlining What an honour.”
Bastille’s frontman Dan Smith also said: “We’ve wanted to play and go to Latitude for such a long time, so we’re really excited to have the chance to be there after everyone’s year away from gigs. It’s our only British festival gig of the summer and we’re thrilled that it’ll be at Latitude in such brilliant company.”
Earlier this year, Latitude announced they would be running at full capacity this summer after their 2020 weekend was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. Founder of Latitude Festival, Melvin Benn, said: “Latitude is a very special festival and we can’t wait to get back to Henham Park, but we will only do that if the prevailing situation in the UK is deemed safe by the government’s Chief Medical Officer and all necessary safety protocols are in place at the event. To that end, I have been working very closely with a number of leading doctors including the Public Health Department at Imperial College London to demonstrate that it can be done safely.”
Benn confirmed yesterday that they will be running a second pilot event as part of the Government’s Event Research Programme (ERP) after Liverpool’s successful The Sefton Park Pilot. He said: “You may also have just seen our exciting news that we will be running a second pilot show event for them, this time a 10,000 person camping event at Donington Park, as part of the second phase of the ERP. I see this as confirmation that they believe in the June 21st date just as much as the Prime Minister does and just as much as I do. That’s also why I today have the confidence to talk about our new headline partner, cinch. cinch believes that Latitude can happen this year just as much as I do and to that end I will be releasing the line up tomorrow at 10am. The summer is coming.”
