The infamously dysfunctional brothers, Liam and Noel Gallagher have taken their family rift further. Noel has announced that an album of Oasis’ best songs from the 2000’s was to be released but due to the brother’s fights it was eventually scrapped and not released.
This specific spat has seemed to stem from a disagreement over a release of one of Oasis’ demos entitled ‘Don’t Stop’. The demo was released by Noel and was met with a negative social media campaign driven by his brother and former bandmate, Liam. Liam claimed that his 53-year-old brother was seemingly exploiting their former band’s repertory to stay current and relevant and related the demo’s release to his opinion concerning the commercial reception of Noel’s band ‘Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds’. The disgruntled brother was not just lashing out at his brother, but also included Noel’s wife Sara MacDonald within the tirade.
Liam has of course spoken out about his brother’s professional decisions and has attacked Noel’s wife, whom Liam has accused of being in the way of an Oasis reunion, stating “surprised at the fact the witch has let him hook into his past glories“.
Liam has also posted some more scathing Twitter posts about his brother and former bandmate’s decision to release the demo.
Oi tofu boy if your gonna release old demos make sure im singing on it and boneheads playing guitar on it if not it’s not worth a wank as you were LG x

Noel had this to say to The Sun regarding the demo release and the lost greatest hits album.
“You know that Don’t Stop demo we put up? We had planned to do an Oasis best of the 2000s because it’s a period of Oasis that the masses are not interested in but for the actual fans there’s some great tunes. With Don’t Stop it was like, ‘Well people are f***ing floundering, put that out, the fans will love it’. Well, we did this best of and the bonus disc was gonna be all these unreleased songs. But, ha, unfortunately we couldn’t agree on something and it got dropped by the wayside.”
Noel has also spoken with Record Collector magazine further about the issue.
“There was this box in the cupboard under the stairs with all these blank CDs in. I went, ‘Right, today I’m going to f****** take that’. I’m putting on these CDs and I found a load of old Oasis stuff, like songs I’d never recorded but demoed. I’m going, ‘No f****** way’. There’s a great version of ‘Eleanor Rigby’, a punk version, and an amazing version of ‘It’s All Too Much’ we did on the day George died. Johnny Marr’s on it. I’d forgotten all about it. It was just the backing track. Liam hadn’t gotten round to doing the vocals.”
Fans will be pleased that a release has been announced from one Gallagher brother, Noel will be releasing a best-of album entitled ‘Back the Way We Came: Vol 1 (2011-2021)’. The album will be available from June 11th 2021 and will chart the decade long career of Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.
Noel also spoke about his new release in the same interview. “I was like, ‘Well hang on a minute, it’s ten years since I went solo, why don’t we just do a best of?”
The greatest hits album was to include such hits as ‘Standing On The Shoulder of Giants’ released in 2000, ‘Don’t Believe The Truth’ from 2005 and from the band’s last studio material, ‘Dig Out Your Soul’ released in 2008. The scrapped album was also to feature unreleased B-sides, demos and recordings of some covers. The covers included were to include George Harrison tributes of ‘Eleanor Rigby’ and ‘It’s All Too Much’, the covers were to feature collaborations with Alan White, the drummer from Yes and The Smiths icon Jonny Marr. The new collection would have surely been a real treat for die-hard fans as well as new fans.
