Hugely successful English indie band Foals are set have a bit of break before their next album. The Oxford based band have released four studio albums over a span of seven years. It isn’t a huge surprise that they are set to have a break before their next album, as their last album ‘What Went Down’ was released just last year in 2015 and before that it was ‘Holy Fire’ in 2013.

When speaking at the live NME awards last night, lead man Yannis Philippakis had this to say:

“We’ve only just put out a record so I think we’ve afforded to take some time [for a break]. I don’t think there’s a rush right now. We need to live life again, that’s always benefitual to making a record.”

“I think we need to take a break,” he added. “It’s hard to predict [how long that will be]. We might start writing again tomorrow.”

As previously mentioned, Foals have time and time again been remarkably successful with their releases. With their second album ‘Total Life Forever’ being nominated for the highly prestigious 2010 Mercury Prize Award (lost to ‘XX’ by The XX). However the successes did not stop there, with their third studio album ‘Holy Fire’ also being nominated for a Mercury Prize award, this time in 2013; yet unfortunately again they did not win, this time losing to James Blake’s ‘Overgrown’.

Last year Foals released ‘What Went Down’ and to date it has been their most successful record in America. This is in part due to their growing reputation (especially with live performances, being regarded as one of the best out there) as well as the help from record producer James Ford, who has previously worked with the likes of The Last Shadow Puppets and Arctic Monkeys.
