Last month, it was announced that the 2021 Brit Awards on the 11th of May will go ahead with a live audience of 4,000 people in total, without any social distancing measures as part of the government’s Events Research Programme. 2,500 tickets were given out to key workers for free, whilst the other 1,500 were reserved for industry professionals and connections. And now London’s O2 Arena has released more details regarding Covid-19 safety measures.
AEG Global Partnerships has teamed up with Lifebuoy from Unilever, becoming The O2’s “Official Hand Sanitiser Partner”. There will be 256 hand sanitising stations for use across the venue. AEG has also partnered with Rentokil Initial, as the “Official Specialist Hygiene Services Partner”, where a special air purification technology called “VIRUSKILL” will be installed in the venue, which supposedly kills 99.9999% of viruses. They have also announced that they installed 75 sensors to monitor CO2 level changes and improved the system for better ventilation within the venue.
Steve Sayer, the VP and General Manager of The O2, said: “Our new measures and partnerships will ensure our guests feel confident at our venue as we make history as the largest indoor pilot event. This and all of the events that make up the Events Research Programme create a really important step for the industry’s recovery. Ultimately we hope that it will contribute to all venues across the country being able to reopen with full capacity crowds from next month.”
