London based soul artist IYAMAH first arrived on the scene with her debut single ‘Cryptic Love’ in 2018, since then her rise to becoming apart of the neo-soul movement in the UK has been rapid. Having grown up on reggae and African style music from a young age, her style incorporates the likes of Lauryn Hill, Alicia Keys and Erykah Badu with her parent’s generation of music, a style she self-proclaimed as Rootsy Soul.
As of today, IYAMAH has released her new extended play titled ‘Tough Love’. The eight track soulful affair details her trials and tribulations with relationships, featuring the singles ‘More’ featuring Coops, which she described to Trench as “‘a glimpse into that kind of love that we all fantasise over”, and ‘Sofa’, which came accompanied by a music video starring herself. The EP is available on all major streaming services with a running time of twenty-two minutes.
Tough Love is the third project released by IYAMAH. Her two previous extended plays titled ‘Truth EP 1’ and ‘Truth EP 2’ respectively were key to helping her build a following as an artist. These two projects have spawned some of her biggest songs, including the hit Cryptic Love and other fan favourites ‘KYWK’, ‘Balance’ and ‘Lone Soldier’. With her rising popularity, IYAMAH’s Jazz Café show in London has since been rescheduled. The fully social distanced and seated affair will be a celebration of the new extended play, also harping back to the Truth projects. The show is scheduled to take place at the established Camden venue Jazz Café, which has seen iconic performances from the likes of D’Angelo and Amy Winehouse. The sold out event is set to be a breakthrough performance for IYAMAH, who will be performing songs from the new EP which can be streamed below.
