Sambi Ajikawo aka Little Simz shared news about her upcoming single on social media last weekend. Rapper has posted a short teasing video with a note: “Another date for you” pointing out a date of 7th May when the single will be out.
New single will be the second from the singer’s album ‘Sometimes I Might Be Introvert’ that has been announced for 3rd September. Lead song from that album called ‘Introvert’, came out last month. More information about it you can find in last month’s MXDWN article.
A thirty three seconds long teaser video for ‘Woman’ shows a group of females wearing colourful elegant outfits in and outside of an old stylish building. Close ups of their faces and females holding hands together are intertwined with popping up notes: “Stand together with your sisters. Don’t lose heart. Keep believing that everything within us is lit up fiercely. Stand together with your sisters. Don’t lose heart. Change the world. Beautiful, beloved sisters, lit up. It’s our time. Woman”. In the background we can hear a female voice speaking in punjabi language and chirping birds.
The teaser video received massive response from Little Simz’s excited fans commenting: “Strong message! Looking forward to see more”, “YES WITH THE PUNJABI!!! Simbi you are out of this world woman and I love you so much for it”.
In a personal interview with Observer, Little Simz talks relationship with her father and how she addresses it in a new upcoming album: “When it comes to business and my work, I’m not shy at all, I don’t hold back with that. I’m very serious and direct, but other stuff sometimes…”. She then added: “You come out of it, and it’s like, oh shit, now I’ve gotta perform it, and everyone’s gonna know how I really feel. It is a lot, but at the same time, it is super freeing. I feel like I’m ready to gooooo for it. I’m charged”.
Little Simz will tour the UK in next few months, see the dates below. New single ’Woman’ is out on 7th May and the album ‘Sometime I Might Be Introvert’ will arrive on 3rd September and can be pre-ordered here.
