KUČKA was born in England and moved to Perth, Australia at sixteen years old. Since 2012 she has been active in music, releasing her first EP in that same year. Her dreamy electronic production landed her placements in the years after, appearing on albums such as Harlem rapper A$AP Rocky’s ‘Long. Live. ASAP.’ and Australian electronic superstar Flume’s ‘Skin’. Recently KUČKA has been residing in California, where it is believed much of her new album was created.
The project titled ‘Wrestling’ is her debut studio album released on the Glasgow founded record label and design studio LuckyMe. The twelve track affair takes the listener through an array of electronic tracks with a fusion of R&B and pop sensibilities. The majority of the album was produced by KUČKA herself, but other producers contributed to the project where she saw fit. Additional productions feature the likes of American producer Nosaj Thing, British artist Vegyn, and return collaborator Flume.
The rollout for this album began in 2019 with the release of the single ‘Drowning’, ever since then fans have been eager to finally hear the debut album of such a highly anticipated artist. The release comes with preparation as physicals are available to purchase from the Bandcamp store. A limited edition clear 12” vinyl record is available to purchase, along with a CD of the album. A deluxe album bundle is also listed on her store, including a T-shirt and “Inner Realms Cards -A 19 card deck inspired by ‘Oblique Strategies’. The ideas on each card are a jumping off point for creatives and a way of peeking into KUČKA’s lyrical and conceptual process.”
The Guardian acknowledged the album, stating “Wrestling sounds like nothing else out… this year, which shouldn’t be surprising given that its author is a conduit for the most cutting-edge sounds in the world”. KUČKA’s debut album is out on all major streaming platforms, stream it below.
