Legendary rock and roll singer Bruce Springsteen has announced that he is set to release his autobiography, titled ‘Born To Run’ (what else!). The book is set to be released to the public later on this year.
It is widely reported that the book will be published by Simon & Schuster on September 27th.
The press release that came with this announce had this to say:
“In Born To Run, Springsteen describes growing up in Freehold, New Jersey amid the ‘poetry, danger, and darkness’ that fuelled his imagination. He vividly recounts his relentless drive to become a musician, his early days as a bar band king in Asbury Park, and the rise of the E Street Band. With disarming candor, he also tells for the first time the story of the personal struggles that inspired his best work, and shows us why the song ‘Born To Run’ reveals more than we previously realised.”
Bruce also had this to say on the book:
“Writing about yourself is a funny business,” Mr. Springsteen notes in his book. “But in a project like this, the writer has made one promise, to show the reader his mind. In these pages, I’ve tried to do this.”
Bruce Springsteen is of course one of the most famous singer-songwriters to have lived, his impassioned lyrics about the working man and day to day life captured the imagination of the majority of the population. Springsteen’s popularity hasn’t waned in the many years since he first burst onto the music scene in 1973 with ‘Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J.’.
Springsteen has since released a total of 18 studio albums, with the latest ‘High Hopes’ having been released just two years ago in 2014. That’s a span of 41 years actively releasing music and touring, there’s a reason he’s called ‘The Boss’.
