It has been confirmed that Mancunian alternative rock band The 1975 have added extra dates to their sold out headline tour, with a five night residency at Brixton’s O2 Academy, four consecutive shows in both Glasgow and Manchester, and a one night stop in Birmingham before heading to Europe. The tour will promote the release of their second album on 26th February, carrying the indulgent title I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So UnAware Of It.
The tour kicks off in March, and will be supported by The Japanese House. The 1975 have toured extensively since the band gained mainstream popularity in 2013 when their single Chocolate reached number 19 in the UK charts, and have since built up an impressive résumé of associated acts, having supported globally renowned bands such as Muse and The Rolling Stones.
The 1975’s self titled debut album hit number one in the album charts in 2013, and so their second offering is anticipated to be a game-changer on the alternative rock scene, with vocalist Matt Healy having revealed the diverse nature of the album and ambitiously stating in an interview with NME:
“I’m challenging people to sit through an hour and 15 minutes and 17 songs that all sound completely different from each other. It’s quite an emotional investment. It’s art. It’s what I want to do. The world needs this album.”
