As the two Record Store Day dates approach, special vinyl releases from The Clash, The Cranberries and Miles Davies have been announced to go on sale to celebrate independent record shops. All the funds raised will go to War Child, the official charity partner of the event for the second year, which supports children growing up in war zones. The first drop is set for June 12^th, whereas the second launch is happening on July 17^th, with four new special releases to be announced, still in support of War Child.

Limited edition releases for this year’s Record Store Day include The Clash’s 1981 promo of ‘If Music Could Talk’, Miles Davis’ ‘Miles Davis Champions From the Complete Jack Johnson Sessions’ and The Cranberries’ ‘Stars: The Best of 1992-2002’. These will arrive on the second Record Store Day, July 17^th, whereas the special edition issues for the first date involve War Child’s re-release of their 1995 ‘HELP EP’ and the ‘Come Together’ single as a 12-inch vinyl, containing tracks from Radiohead, PJ Harvey, Guru, Portishead and more. Commenting on this, the Cranberries’ Fergal Lawler said: “We are very honoured that Universal have chosen Stars as a special Vinyl release for Record Store Day. The proceeds from sales are going to the War Child Foundation, a charity that does incredible work to help vulnerable children in war-torn countries.”

The Head of War Child Records Richard Clarke, stated: ‘We were delighted to be the charity partner for RSD last year and raise over £12,000 to help change the lives of children affected by conflict. It was a really difficult year for everyone and we’re really proud to have worked with RSD, the independent record store community and make a difference. The music industry has always been so important to his charity and we’re really excited to return as charity partner for 2021 as well as marking the partnership with our first release on War Child Records.’
