Lead singer of Red Hot Chili Peppers Anthony Kiedis has said that the band are in the home stretch of finishing their latest album.
Kiedis revealed all when speaking to the American radio show Joney’s Jukebox, discussing the new album and their work with music producer and one half of Gnarls Barkley, Danger Mouse:
“We had written two dozen songs before we got with him,” Kiedis said of Danger Mouse. “[He] is like, ‘Let’s keep a few of those, but let’s go write all new songs in the studio.’ We’re looking at each other like, ‘Dude, we kind of already wrote the songs, bro.’ He’s like, ‘No, I like to write new ones in the studio.’ So, in honor of accommodating this new process, we wrote all new songs, and it’s a good thing we did.”
Danger Mouse has also famously worked with other hugely successful bands, such as the Black Keys, Gorillaz, Portugal. The Man and many more. He is widely critically acclaimed in the music world, so Danger Mouse combined with one Red Hot Chili Peppers hopefully should prepare us for in theory should be an incredible album.
The upcoming untitled album is set to be released later on this year and will be the bands 11th release since their introduction to the music industry in 1983. The Red Hot Chili Peppers have enjoyed widespread success, being inaugurated into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and being one of the best selling bands in history.
