Irish rock band The Script have released an EP called ‘Acoustic Sessions 2′, featuring acoustic versions of their popular singles, which were recorded by members over lockdown – ‘Breakeven’, ‘For the First Time’, ‘Millionaires’ and ‘Nothing’. The band decided to return with a second acoustic EP after the success of the first ‘Acoustic Sessions’ released in 2018. The first one consisted of the acoustic versions of ‘No Man is an Island’, ‘Never Seen Anything “Quite Like You”‘, ‘The Man Who Can’t Be Moved’ and ‘Crazy World’.
Taking it to Twitter, the band said: “Our second EP of acoustic sessions is OUT NOW Featuring versions of Breakeven, For The First Time, Millionaires, and Nothing that we’ve recorded during lockdown, we can’t wait to hear what you think #TheScriptFamily!”
The Script were formed in 2008 and consists of lead vocalist and keyboardist Daniel O’Donoghue, lead guitarist Mark Sheehan, and drummer Glen Power. Their first album ‘The Script’ went straight to the top of the charts in the UK and all six of their albums topped the Irish charts, showing enormous success. Over the years, they have produced many iconic anthems such as ‘Rain’, ‘Superheroes’ and ‘Hall of Fame’. They have sold over 20 million albums in total worldwide and received two Brit Award nominations.
The band’s latest album is ‘Sunsets & Full Moons’ in 2019, which went to number one in the UK charts. Unfortunately, the tour for their album was cut short due to the pandemic. Hopefully, the release of ‘Acoustic Sessions 2′ will keep fans satisfied for the time being. The chilled and fresh acoustic takes allow the band and listeners alike to reflect on their earlier songs whilst they wait for new tour dates as well as new music.
‘Acoustic Sessions 2′ is out now on all platforms. UK tour dates have not been announced yet. They were originally rescheduled to take place in early June, however, it is likely being postponed in accordance with the government’s guidelines regarding Covid-19 restrictions.
