22-year-old singer and songwriter Declan McKenna has rescheduled UK tour dates for later this year. The tour was originally set to commence in March, however it has been postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The artist is set to play some intimate gigs around the country to celebrate the release of his new album ‘Zeros’ in September last year.
Delighted to finally share the dates for our UK tour! It’s so great to finally have some good news and live music on the horizon. We’ve appreciated your patience and support more than anything this past year and have so much to give back x0000000000https://t.co/l8oYjGjdNF pic.twitter.com/u4JgT5LTWu

‘Zeros’ is McKenna’s second album featuring ten tracks and includes recently released singles ‘The Key to Life on Earth’ and ‘Beautiful Faces’. The album was originally set to be dropped in May last year, but it was delayed due to the pandemic. This is the first album since the release of his debut album, ‘What Do You Think About the Car?’ in 2017, which he started writing when he was just 15 years old. Lead single ‘Brazil’ about the corruption of 2012 FIFA World Cup from his first album, arguably McKenna’s most famous song, went silver.
Declan McKenna is not only a singer-songwriter but also a political activist and LGBTQ+ rights advocate, using his lyrics as a platform to tackle today’s issues and his own struggles. In an interview with NME, he talked about the constant pressure inflicted on him through social media: “I wouldn’t be in the position I am now without social media. It has put a lot of power into the hands of creators and artists to just do things on their own terms, but I think that this is what is causing an epidemic of anxiety. I have a tiny bit of pride in myself for the fact that I do stick up for things I believe in, but social media is so good at making you feel like you’re not doing enough.”
In another interview with Metro, he added how he has incorporated challenges that society faces into his album ‘Zeros’, and how the themes he explores are especially relevant in times of the Covid-19 pandemic: “I think the album applies to the sense of isolation, escape, destruction and people’s disconnect from each other. All those themes that are on the record exist and resonate more now. I was voicing concerns about the future and I think our future as a society has come into question quite directly in the last few months. All that ties in, but people will tie the record in many different ways.”
Declan McKenna will perform songs from his new album ‘Zeros’ as well as hits from ‘What Do You Think About the Car?’ on his tour. Tickets can be bought from his website. The rescheduled tour dates are as follows:
