It has been confirmed The Strokes areback in the studio recording drums and rehearsing, after the head of Mexico based Victoria Records, Victoria Morales-Kühne, uploaded an image of the band in the studio on to her Instagram.
The caption on Instagram read: “When one of your favorite bands in the world contacts you months in advance to rent your studio B to record drums and studio A to rehearse and you’re just grateful. WHAT IS LIFE RIGHT NOW?!!”
Julian Casablancas teased a new Strokes album back in September on stage during the Landmark Music Festival. At the time he told the audience “We’ll be back soon. We’ll be back in the studio and shit”. Provided this is work on a new Strokes album then this will be the band’s sixth studio album, and first since 2013’s Comedown Machine.
The band are currently in Mexico to play Live Out Monterrey festival. The discerning among you may have noticed there’s no sign of Albert Hammond Jr. in the picture, but that might be down to the fact he was taking down his wife’s potential pickpockets earlier today:
